Creating a World That Works for All

Uh Oh. When I first made the announcement that I would be leaving Berrett-Koehler to pursue my passion for artisanal cheese, I noted that it was too soon for emotional goodbyes and that I'd save those for later. Well, not it's later, so I suppose this is a must.

The end of this month will mark the end of my full-time work at Berrett-Koehler. I will work part-time during July and, of course, attend the 20th Anniversary Celebration but, otherwise, I'll be spending the majority of my time in the world of cheese. Considering that's the case, allow me to -- briefly -- get a bit cheesy.

I want to thank everyone at BK and in the BK community for an incredible 4 years. I couldn't have asked for a better position at a better company and I know that the values and lessons I've learned at BK will serve me well in my next endeavor and for the rest of my life. I've met and collaborated with some incredibly smart, talented, creative, and hopeful people, and their wisdom will help to guide me through the challenging adventure to come. While all BK staff members and stakeholders hold a place in my heart, I must give a special shout-out to my boss, VP of Editorial and Digital, David Marshall. It would be darn near impossible to put my respect, admiration, gratitude, and affection for David into words, but...I'll still try. From my very first days at Berrett-Koehler, I knew I had a friend and ally in David. Over time, he grew to become a mentor and a role model. I've learned so much from him, about business and about life. The first person to enthusiastically support and encourage my new cheese mission? That was him. I will miss sharing thoughts, stories, and jokes with my office buddy (yep, we survived 4 years in close quarters), but I'm very excited that a new person (stay tuned) will get to learn from this incredibly smart, inspiring, sincere, and silly person -- who just so happens to be a wonderful manager. What luck!

To all: Don't be a stranger! I'll still be around -- popping in for Author Days, maybe doing some manuscript reviews, and interacting with the BK family through the use of online communities that I helped to create! And, if you're interested in following along as I make my way through the world of cheese, please feel free to keep up with my blog.

Farewell!
